Opentop at CTAC Europe 2026: Technology, People, and the Future of Port Terminals

For the third consecutive year, Valencia hosted one of the most important events in global port technology — and Opentop was there.

CTAC Europe 2026 celebrated its tenth edition right in our city: a fitting setting for a conversation about the future of an industry that Valencia knows well.

A Conversation That Goes Beyond Technology

The agenda tackled the most pressing questions facing terminal operators today: resilience and modernisation, closing the gap between automation and real performance, digital alignment from berth to gate, and how to convert data visibility into operational advantage.

One message resonated throughout: the port industry is not short of technology. The real challenge is deploying it effectively — integrating systems, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring digital investment delivers measurable results.

Why CTAC Matters for Our Matchmaking Work

For Opentop, events like CTAC are a vital part of how we deliver our matchmaking service. Being on the ground means discovering first-hand which solutions are gaining traction, which needs remain unmet, and reconnecting with startups and companies we have worked with through our programmes.

This proximity to the international port community is what allows us to make better, more relevant, more impactful connections. We attend these events not just to learn, but to serve our ecosystem better.

The Human Factor

One theme kept emerging across every panel and every corridor conversation: no transformation succeeds without putting people at the centre of change management. This is not a soft consideration. It is a strategic imperative.

A sincere thank you to Port Technology International for bringing the global terminal technology community to Valencia, and to Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia, Fundación Valenciaport, and TIC 4.0 for their continued support.

We look forward to CTAC 2027.
