"Finding Talent and a Good Technological Response." Interview with Alejandra Giménez

What is Romeu and what is its focus of activity?

Romeu is a Spanish international freight logistics holding company with a history of more than 150 years and the leadership of its fourth and fifth generation. Since its beginnings, Romeu has been growing strategically and innovatively in line with the needs of its customers. This diversification has allowed it to expand its presence in the international market and make it one of the leading logistics groups in Spain and the rest of the world. Romeu currently has several business areas that encompass the entire supply chain among which stand out: Freight Forwarders, Customs, Logistics, Warehousing, Transportation, Consolidation and Consignments. At Romeu we are committed to and recognize the importance of conducting our operations in a manner that respects society, the environment, cultural diversity and customs wherever we operate.

What role does innovation play in your company?

At Romeu, innovation is part of our DNA.  It is not an option, it is the legacy we have and the future we are building. Change is increasingly accelerated and technologies enable new ways of creating value. For us, innovation means connecting ideas, technologies and people with new ways of working to create new value for our customers and the world we live in.

What do you expect from your participation in the Opentop Hackathon?

We hope to connect with people who are curious, creative and have that magic talent to give value to data and help us identify key elements that allow a logistics company to detect early on milestones that can generate friction to improve service levels. We hope to get a technological answer to our challenge, but also to connect with talent.
