Port Innovators Network (PIN) keeps growing! We're thrilled to announce the addition of New Bedford Ocean Cluster (NBOC), marking our arrival in New England, Massachusetts, United States. With this new member, the network reaches 10 members, consolidating its position as the global platform that brings together port innovation hubs from different geographies with diverse profiles and specializations, all united by a shared commitment to open innovation as a driving force for transformation in the maritime-port sector.
NBOC brings invaluable experience in fostering industrial cooperation, particularly in bridging established traditional sectors, such as commercial fishing, with high-growth emerging sectors like offshore energy. In return, NBOC gains direct connections with ports worldwide and the opportunity to participate in collaborative projects that drive innovation and economic growth in the maritime-port sector.
Founded in 2021, the New Bedford Ocean Cluster is a nonprofit maritime industry association that drives the development of the ocean economy in the Port of New Bedford and its surrounding region. Their work is built around four key industrial pillars: aquaculture, commercial fishing and processing, offshore renewable energy, and marine technology.
NBOC's mission is to foster collaboration and coordination among industry, academia, and the public sector to promote and grow the region's maritime economy. The organization is dedicated to business development by identifying new growth opportunities, promoting regional assets in national and global markets, building cross-sector relationships, and actively supporting strategies to expand the local marine industry. NBOC facilitates networking and encourages connections and collaboration among maritime industry stakeholders through business-focused events and specialized support services.
