PEIC on the LAKE: we took port innovation to the lake at Valencia's City of Arts and Sciences

Some technologies need to be seen in action, on the water. That idea gave rise to PEIC DEMO on the LAKE, the big new feature of PEIC 2026: a floating platform on the lake at the City of Arts and Sciences that, throughout the two days of Valencia Digital Summit (21 and 22 October), became an open testbed for solutions designed for port and maritime environments.

Five startups, five ways to innovate on the water

  • Panssari: detection and geolocation of presence and movement where cameras fall short.
  • Ocean Ecostructures: maritime infrastructure designed to regenerate biodiversity.
  • Marine Rob: vehicles powered by renewable energy and equipped with advanced sensors.
  • OilKontrol: solutions to contain, absorb and recover spills.
  • Mesh Robots: connected robots and peripherals, designed on the principle that every node is fragile and expendable.

Together, they offered a complete picture of where the port of the future is heading: more autonomous, safer, better monitored and more committed to the marine environment.

A meeting point for the whole ecosystem

The lake became one of the must-see stops at VDS. Institutional representatives, port and logistics companies, investors keen to see real-world technologies first-hand, and many VDS visitors stopped by the platform, discovering a sector that is rarely shown this up close.
