Challenge of VPI Logística: Smart Access, Security and Mobility Management at the ZAL of the Port of Valencia
The Port of Valencia's Logistics Activity Zone is looking for startups able to design a digital, efficient and privacy-respecting model to manage access, security and traffic flows at its new logistics hub.
The challenge: balancing flow and security.
VPI Logística proposes to advance a design that combines innovation with real-world applicability, with particular emphasis on operational simplicity, efficiency and the ability to adapt to a complex and evolving logistics environment. The ultimate goal is to move towards an intelligent management model that positions the ZAL of the Port of Valencia as a benchmark in advanced, digital and sustainable logistics.
Solutions may address one or more of the following areas:
- Smart access and security compatible with the urban nature of the ZAL's roads and fully compliant with data protection regulations.
- Traffic management to improve flow efficiency and streamline logistics operations.
- Digital tools for comprehensive logistics park management.
- Environmental sustainability and operational efficiency.
The system must be agile, user-friendly and cybersecure, and able to coexist seamlessly with existing physical security infrastructure.
What are we looking for from participating startups?
Proposals should be concrete, actionable and ready to move forward. The strongest submissions will include:
- A functional system architecture built around responsible data management, data minimisation, clearly defined roles and robust security measures.
- A scoped pilot roadmap (for example, a single access point or a critical area) with clear KPIs: traffic flow efficiency, reduced manual intervention, privacy-compliant traceability, scalability and operational simplicity.
- A prototype or live demo: interface, authorisation flow, alert management strong enough to make the case for moving to a real-world pilot.
The design priority is operational simplicity: a system that is reliable, precise and fast, one that any operator can pick up and use confidently from day one.
