The Opentop Hackathon experience for challenge partners
- We chatted with representatives from Grupo Romeu, Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia, Navis and MSC about their experience in the Hackathon.
20/05/2022. What has the Opentop Hackathon experience been like for the partners? This space is for one of the main protagonists of the last Opentop Hackathon, our partners responsible for the four challenges that the participants faced during the event. Each company came with high expectations and enthusiasm to solve the challenges they face on a daily basis.
Undoubtedly, the highlight of the experience was the great attitude of our participants, which made it possible for all partners to leave equally excited and satisfied with the experience. Let's review how they experienced the Opentop Hackathon.
Romeu Group
The Romeu Group's challenge revolved around "Prevention of human error through artificial intelligence". A very interesting proposal that our participants worked intensely, we leave some photos below.
We were able to chat with Iñaki Olaizola Reig, Business Process Excellence Manager at Tiba Spain, Romeu Group; who told us what a fabulous idea he thinks this hackathon is and encourages us to continue it in the future, without a doubt!
"This type of initiative puts us on the track to improve and innovate in the future. We have high expectations for both the hackathon itself and the participants."
Iñaki also mentioned how eager the colleagues of the different challenges were to see the solutions presented by all kinds of profiles, of different ages and experiences, which is tremendously enriching and an incentive.
We are sure that after the fabulous pitch battle that the teams did, they were delighted.
Port Authority of Valencia
Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia's challenge for the #Hackathon Opentop was the "Generation of links between the port and citizens through the commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals". A great challenge for our participants!
During the weekend, we were able to talk to Carolina Navarro Correcher, mentor of the challenge launched by the Port Authority, who told us how enriching this experience is, working with profiles that have nothing to do with the port sector environment, and that can come with an absolutely blank mind but bring a differential and different value to those they encounter on a daily basis."It is super exciting to see the energy with which they work, the illusion, and how well they integrate the different activitiesof dynamization in their work".
Carolina commented that without a doubt what has impacted her the most is the quality of the participants, their involvement and the enthusiasm they have put into solving these challenges.
In addition, one of the teams of this challenge, Andaman, won the second prize of this Hackathon Opentop, a great proposal about which you can read more in our Hackathon summary post.
We leave you some pictures of the experience of the Port Authority of Valencia and its teams in this event, thanks for your support!
Navis
Continuing with the review of the experiences of the companies after the challenges, we come to Navis, which brought to this Opentop Hackathon the challenge "Search for the optimal location of each container in the terminal". Undoubtedly, one of the most technical challenges of the call, perfect for our brilliant participants!
During those days, we were able to chat with Jose María Real Valero, Software Development Manager at Navis , who also reaffirmed the amount of talent they have seen these days, the motivation they have perceived when meeting the participants up close. "For our company it is very important to be here, because we are a company that is continuously looking for innovation, always looking to go an extra mile, to try to make the product better and better and somehow to be lucky enough to be here and receive so many fresh ideas is fantastic. A lot of times we're anchored in what we've done the last few years, and it's great to have fresh visions."
Jose Maria also highlighted the good dynamics that were being organized for the teams, the timings and in short the good set up of the whole event. We couldn't agree more!
Undoubtedly, he also left us with a great headline " If you like innovation and industry, this weekend 'the place to be' is the Opentop Hackathon".
Moreover, one of the teams working with this Navis challenge, Aegean, won the first prize of this Hackathon, about which you can read more details in our Hackathon summary post.
MSC
In this II Opentop Hackathon we also had the pleasure of having MSC, who brought the challenge "Decarbonization of the logistics chain". Undoubtedly a challenge directly related to sustainability, which is of great concern to the sector.
Jaime López Giménez, Intermodal Project Leader at MEDLOG, the logistics arm of MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, was in charge of presenting the MSC challenge to the participants on the first day.
After the weekend's experience, Jaime told us what a great idea this hackathon has been, how productive it has been, and the tremendous value of having profiles that even though they are not very familiar with their environment, come with fresh ideas and with so much to contribute.
What did it mean for MSC? It is always interesting for global companies to participate in events of these characteristics. Jaime emphasized that, "without a doubt, the drive and desire of all the teams, who have put in a great deal of effort, is striking. From the first conversations held on Friday, to talking to them on Sunday, you can see the hard work behind them, and that they have had a very big initiative."
At the time of this conversation the solutions to the MSC challenge were not yet known, but without a doubt the teams met the expectations of the whole team. A great weekend!
We leave you some pictures of what we experienced these days, we look forward to seeing you in the next one!
