9 international startups selected for the 6th Valenciaport Hackathon

On 30 June and 1 July, the Edificio del Reloj at the Port of Valencia will host the 6th Valenciaport Hackathon, and today we're revealing the nine startups that will take part to co-create, alongside three challenger companies, innovative solutions for the challenges set out in this edition.

Among the nine selected, chosen after a tough selection process involving over 40 high-quality applications, are teams that have travelled a long way to reach Valencia. Alongside Spanish startups, the line-up includes projects from Singapore, Norway and the Netherlands, further proof that the port-logistics ecosystem is a genuinely global one.

Challenge 1 · Hitachi Energy: Multi-vector Energy Management System

Tibo (Netherlands), Fjuel (Norway) and Nido i+d (Spain) are taking on the challenge of designing a multi-vector EMS capable of integrating renewables, storage, and demanding loads such as reefer containers, onshore power supply (OPS) or electric vehicle charging, optimising consumption and quantifying avoided emissions.

Challenge 2 · VPI Logística: Smart access, security and mobility in the ZAL

Synnect, Panssari and Oonlive, all three from Spain, will work on a smart model for access, security and mobility in the Zona de Actividades Logísticas (ZAL) at the Port of Valencia, tailored to the characteristics of its roads and to the real needs of those who use them every day.

Challenge 3 · Innovation Committee of the Valenciaport Cluster: Disruption response

Marina Chain (Singapore) and Spanish startups Numbia and Urban Alert are tackling the challenge of building a monitoring and prediction platform that strengthens the Port of Valencia's resilience against weather, energy, logistics or cyber disruptions.

The winning startups will also receive a first prize of €6,000 and a second prize of €3,000, sponsored by the Fundación Juan Arizo Serrulla, as well as direct access to the Port Entrepreneurship International Congress (PEIC), which will be held on 20 and 21 October 2026 as part of the Valencia Digital Summit and is organised by Opentop.

We'd like to thank everyone who has made this event possible. The challenges were put forward by Hitachi Energy, VPI Logística and the Innovation Committee of the Valenciaport Cluster. We have the support of the Asociación Naviera Valenciana (ANV), APMT, Boluda, Infoport, Nealis Innovation Hub and The Whiteam Technology Services as supporters, together with the collaboration of CSP Spain, Invest in Valencia, Startup Valencia, Valencia Innovation Capital and Ideas UPV.

The event is organised by Opentop, the Open Innovation Hub of Valenciaport, driven by Fundación Valenciaport and the Port Authority of Valencia, alongside Innova y Acción as organising partners, with financial support from the Agència Valenciana de la Innovació (AVI), under the Complementary Actions Programme for Innovation Promotion and Strengthening, co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the Comunitat Valenciana 2024–2026.

To all the companies, institutions and partners who make this possible: thank you for continuing to grow this international port-logistics innovation ecosystem.
